The charcoal roasting of this tea accentuates the spicy woody flavor. The medium body tea has a bright astringency and a slightly sweet finish. A delightful introduction to Rock oolongs, this is perhaps a friendlier version of Da Hong Pao.

One of the famous Wuyi Rock Oolongs or Yancha, Rou Gui translates to "Cinnamon oolong". This highly resilient tea is grown in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian Province. It is called a rock oolong because the tea trees grow among the cracks and gaps of the rocks of Wuyi Mountain. Teas from this area have a distinctive minerality to the flavor and are generally a darker roasted oolong. They are a great example of the effect of terroir on the flavor of the tea.
