Enshi Yu Lu 恩施玉露 is the Gyokuro green tea of China. The characters 玉露 are pronounced "yù lù" in Chinese and "gyokuro" in Japanese. It translates to "jade dew" in both languages. The aroma is creamy and buttery and slightly vegetal. The flavor is sweet and smooth with a touch of vanilla and a dry lingering finish.

This distinctive tea is all it's own and not a copy from Japan.  Grown at an altitude of 900 meters in an organic garden, This tea is naturally shaded by the mountain mists.

Traditional two leaves and a bud are picked in late April.

This tea has been produced in Enshi of West Hubei for hundreds of years. In the Tang Dynasty, most Chinese teas were steamed green (the process commonly used in Japanese green teas). Enshi Yu Lu 恩施玉露 is first steamed then rolled repeatedly by hand. After the tea is made, it is fried in low temperature pan for a short while, which creates a greyish jade green color, that differs in appearance from Japanese Gyokuro.
