A light amber infusion is created from this medium roasted oolong. Although there are hints of gardenia and almonds in the aroma, it has a pronounced roasted flavor with hints of charcoal and toasted chestnuts. A complex and delicious brew that is perfect for breakfast or anytime.
Dong Ding (凍頂) means "Frozen Summit." Teas grown on Dong Ding Mountain in Nantou County were first brought to Taiwan from the Wuyi mountain region in the mid-1800s. At the time, the gardens were some of the highest elevations in the country. It is one of the first Taiwanese teas. This particular tea is from the Qing Xin (青心) cultivar and comes from a garden at 450 meters height. It has been traditionally roasted to enhance its nutty characteristics. |
