Cherry & Smoke - A tea based mocktail
Paula Stocker
This drink stands apart from the multitude of mocktails that simply replace alcohol with tea. Instead, it harnesses the essence of tea to craft an elegant adult beverage. We began with a recipe discovered on Epicurious, but ultimately opted for a bolder tea flavor and a lighter touch of cherry. The end product is a delightful, comforting drink that can add a celebratory touch to any occasion.
Ingredients
2 Tbsp Lapsang Souchong Tea (Loose Leaf)
1 1/2 cups Tart Cherry Juice
Lemon Twist
Instructions
1. Bring 2 1/2 cups of water to 200 degrees or just before boiling. Pour over loose tea in a heatproof container. Allow to steep for at least 5 minutes.
2. Add Tart Cherry Juice to tea. Use a fine mesh strainer to strain out tea leaves as you pour into serving glasses or a pitcher.
3. Serve warm. Garnish with Lemon Twist or two!
